Enter the Competition

Could you come up with a new way of approaching the most important global issues of our time? Do you think your ideas could help to fight climate change, poverty and diseases?

By entering the J8 Competition, you could win the chance to represent your country at the J8 Summit to present your ideas to eight of the most powerful leaders in the world.

To enter the competition, teams work together to come up with their own ideas on how to tackle the key issues being discussed by the G8. They submit these ideas in an online communiqué, just like the one produced at the G8 Summit.

The entries are then judged by a specially selected panel in each country. The team with the best entry from each country is chosen to take part in the J8 Summit and to get the opportunity to meet the leaders of the G8.

The J8 2008 teams have already been selected. See who will represent your country in 2008 and check back later this year for information about the 2009 competition.

Chitose Declaration and Young People's Action Plan

We, the thirty-nine J8 delegates from Barbados, Canada, Cote d’Ivoire, France, Germany, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nepal, Russia, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States of America believe that it is imperative for G8 leaders to listen to the voices of young people. We urge you to act upon previous J8 declarations as well as our own, so that young people are not ignored. We also need follow up with the G8 governments so that young people can get involved and make sure that our ideas transfer into action NOW and in the future.
